Architecture Inspired by Nature

Because the program of the ceremony building in Oosterhout, was expected to grow in time from a funeral center to a crematorium, an architectural structure was chosen which visually referred to a tree bark. The generic building structure is able to incorporate the possible growth or shrinkage of the program in time while keeping an esthetic consistency as a whole. Each part of the ceremony received its own recognizable volume within the neutral network of hallway’s to create a natural flow from each different emotion connected to each different space. Photography: Ossip Duijvenbode
